The lagoon of Cuicocha is located in the crater, which was formed on the sides of the volcano Cotacachi (4’936 m).
This lagoon with two small islands, seemingly flouting in the middle, offers wildly varied flora (orchids, "elephants ears") and splendid sights on the province of Imbabura. Walking around a great looping path, the modest altitude allows us moderate acclimatization.
From the highest point (3’400 m), we enjoy a very beautiful view of Otavalo and the volcano Imbabura. 4 - 5 hours walk.
